The much awaited next release of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, GTA VI just might have been leaked online. What started off as a post on GTAForums has now quickly made its way all over the internet.
About The Leaks
A user going by the name of ‘teapotuberhacker‘ posted a zip file on GTA Forums this weekend. The user stated, “Here are 90 footage/clips from GTA 6. Its possible i could leak more data soon, GTA 5 and 6 source code and assets, GTA 6 testing build. [sp]” The anonymous user also claims that these clips directly come from the test build. Since then, the videos have made several rounds all over Twitter, YouTube, Reddit and other social media platforms. However, the original post on GTA Forums has now been deleted and admins of the website have encouraged not to post any more videos. The leaks are, however, in line with the Bloomberg report that GTA VI will have a female playable character.
The validity of the leak has also been confirmed by reporter Jason Schreier from Bloomberg. He went on to state:
“Not that there was much doubt, but I’ve confirmed with Rockstar sources that this weekend’s massive Grand Theft Auto VI leak is indeed real. The footage is early and unfinished, of course. This is one of the biggest leaks in video game history and a nightmare for Rockstar Games”
GTA VI Leaked Footage
The clips of leaked footage has revealed interesting details of what we can expect from the final game. Right off the bat, the names of the two protagonists seem to be Lucia and Jason. One footage shows a gunpoint robbery taking place at a diner by the alleged female protagonist. Another shows the two protagonists roaming around a nightclub interacting with other NPCs.
Judging from the leaks, we can expect massive changes in terms of cops. The driving physics seem pretty good as well. We don’t know how to react to the weapon wheel which looks quite different from previous titles of the franchise. Window peeking from a vehicle has never looked this good in a game before.
A full 1 hour footage of the leaks was uploaded on YouTube but it was later taken down.
A Deal With Rockstar?
The person behind the leaks is currently trying to strike a deal with Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive. Presumably the same person, the one behind the leaks got onto Twitter (@teapothacks) and tried to reason with Rockstar Games. On there, he has posted more details including their “alpha script” and the list of weapons on GTA VI. A few hours ago, he even tweeted that Rockstar Games offered him 3 bitcoins.
Hello. @RockstarGames offered me over 3 bitcoins. Sick shit will happen today#GTA6 #GTA6leak #gta6leaked #gta5

Rockstar Games is yet to acknowledge the leaks as of yet. The company has a track record of exercising power under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) in the past and might do so yet again.
Rockstar’s Response
Rockstar has finally recognized the leaks and have confirmed it via a social media announcement. They have assured fans that they will keep working on the game as planned and promise to deliver an experience that exceeds the expectations of the fans.
Guess only time will tell whether the game will actually fulfill the cravings of GTA fans across the world. But judging by the leaks, things do seem to be on the right path if you ask us.
