Just before the end of October, The Witcher’s official Instagram account announced that they are returning with Season 4 but with an unexpected change in the franchise. Henry Cavill will no longer be playing Geralt of Rivia in the series. Liam Hemsworth took the place instead of him as the new Witcher. Why this sudden change? Let’s find out.
About The Witcher
The Witcher is a series adaptation of the Polish writer Andrej Sapkowsi’s historical fantasy book series. There is also a game version available which is loved by all the gamers. Henry himself is a huge fan of both the game and book.
The Witcher premiered on 20th December, 2019. Ever since then, fans have absolutely loved the series. The series shows the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Princess Ciri. Anya Chalotra, Freya Allen and Joey Batey are also casted among Henry. The series is created and produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
On the basis of the gossip and memes on social media, few assumptions were made for his sudden departure.
Unauthentic Script
Keeping similarities with the original book, the scripts were written differently for the series. This seems to upset Henry a lot. During the premier of the first season, he said how the producers and screenwriters had made him shut for not having authentic scripts for his character.
The way his character was written, he was not very fond of it. Taking his suggestion, he made the writers rewrite his character in season 2. Based on fans’ assumptions, he might have had an issue with the producers and directors with his character. Hence, he had to leave the series.

Henry has been playing Superman under DC Comics since 2013. Fans and kids have loved him in this role. The last time he played the role of a superhero was in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Recently, he posted a video on his official social media account donning a Superman costume. Henry will be appearing in a cameo on Black Adam’s next movie.
He said how he is excited to play the role again. But there is a rumour around this news. While filming season 3, Henry left the set of The Witcher quite a few times without telling anyone about this.
This might have caused a miscommunication among Henry and the producers. As they did not allow him to tell about the new Superman venture, being sneaky has cost him goodbye to the role.
Humiliation On Set
Henry has always said how The Witcher is a dream come true project for him. Geralt being his favourite character, he loved playing it. He wanted to enjoy the authentic character from the book.
He insisted the producers and directors understand the book and game properly. In an interview, Producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich stated how Henry has quoted from the book and wanted those to be on his script. Claiming to be a fan of the book, Lauren never liked Henry interrupting her work.
But, none of the screenwriters or director was interested in listening to him. One of the ex writers of the series confirmed how Henry was mocked for being a nerd on the set.
Fulfilling his childhood dream, Henry expressed his excitement to work in the series for 7 series in honour of the author.
Not keeping up with the book has caused him to take this decision. Sources even confirmed his conflict with the directors as well.

Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth is set to start his venture on The Witcher. The star stated on his official Instagram account that he will be portraying as Geralt from season 4 of the franchise.
Both Henry and Liam expressed their gratitude on their journey in the series. Henry congratulated Liam for getting the role and Liam stated how he has been a fan of Henry throughout the year.

While Witcher fans are mourning for Henry’s departure, Liam’s fans are taking this as a turning point of his career. Despite being in the industry for more than a decade, Liam’s career did not really take over the way it should have.
His big brother, Chris Hemsworth who is seen as Thor in the Marvel comics has expressed his happiness on social media. Liam’s other brother, Luke Hemsworth also shared his happiness on Liam’s success.
Three of the brothers are Australian and have done numerous projects which strengthened their career.
How Have The Fans Reacted?
It is obvious that both the news has disappointed fans of Henry and The Witcher. According to the fanbase of the book, Henry did justice to Geralt.
The way he portrayed Geralt, fans are being obnoxious about Liam’s take on this.
Some of the fans are assuming that Henry might come back to the series. Liam could be playing the younger version of Geralt as per they say.
